While the official ceremony at Normandy American Cemetery isn’t until June 6, the American Battle Monuments Commission, the agency for commemorating the service of American armed forces, requires the names of tour guests who will need tickets by Thursday, March 28, 2024.

This tour covers the planning and launch of the D-Day Invasion, Operation Overlord. The 8-night tour will be led by a full-time historian who is an expert in WWII history. Highlights include:

  • 80th commemoration ceremony: Attend the official June 6 ceremony
  • London: Churchill Cabinet War Rooms and the Imperial War Museum
  • Bletchley Park: Nerve center for intelligence used in the Allied War effort
  • Portsmouth: Where the Allies assembled the armies and equipment for the massive undertaking
  • Normandy: Invasion beaches of Omaha and Utah, Pointe-du-Hoc, Sainte-Mère-Église

80th Anniversary of D-Day: The Airborne

This tour tells the story of this pivotal moment in WWII history from the perspective of the Airborne Divisions. Throughout the war, airborne troops were utilized in various campaigns, such as Operation Market Garden and the Battle of the Bulge. Senior Historian Chris Anderson, who is an expert on the Normandy Invasion, Band of Brothers and 101st Airborne, will lead this tour. You will visit the same sites in England and Normandy noted above before traveling on to Arnhem and Bastogne.

80th Anniversary of D-Day: Patton’s 3rd Army

The first part of this tour covers the planning and launch of the D-Day Invasion, Operation Overlord, and includes visiting the same sites in England and Normandy noted above. You will then follow Patton’s Third Army across France, to its relief of Bastogne and invasion of Germany. Patton expert Kevin Hymel, who has authored three books on the Maverick General, leads this tour.
