During the 13-day tour, you will walk the sands of Omaha Beach stirred by the memories of the young men who came ashore under fire in June of 1944, and then as we make our way to Bastogne we will visit the town squares, woods, and fields where the paratroopers landed in the predawn hours on 6 June.

80th Anniversary of D-Day: The Airborne
This 80th Anniversary of D-Day Tour tells the story of this pivotal moment in WWII history from the perspective of the Airborne Divisions. On D-Day, June 6, 1944, paratroopers from the U.S. 82nd and 101st Airborne Divisions, along with the British 6th Airborne Division, were dropped behind enemy lines in Normandy. Throughout the war, airborne troops were utilized in various campaigns, such as Operation Market Garden and the Battle of the Bulge. Their ability to rapidly deploy, seize strategic positions, and disrupt enemy movements proved invaluable.
This tour will be led by Senior Historian Chris Anderson who is an expert on the Normandy Invasion, Band of Brothers, and 101st Airborne. Chris was a personal confidant of Major Dick Winters, commander of Easy Company, as well as many other veterans of WWII. George Luz, Jr., the son of Easy Company member George Luz, Sr., will be the tour assistant. Chris and George will share personal stories of many of the men of Easy Company as well as other paratroopers, adding to your experience.

In London, you will see where Winston Churchill led Great Britain through its “darkest hour,” and visit some of his favorite spots. In Normandy, France, you will walk the sands of Omaha Beach stirred by the memories of the young men who came ashore under fire in June of 1944. As we make our way to Bastogne, you will explore the town squares, woods, and fields where the paratroopers landed in the predawn hours on 6 June. The final part of this D-Day tour covers the Battle of the Bulge.

80th Anniversary of D-Day: Patton’s 3rd Army Tour
The first part of this 80th Anniversary of D-Day Tour covers the planning and launch of the D-Day Invasion, Operation Overlord. We will begin in England, visiting key sites in London, and then ferry to Normandy. You will walk the sands of Omaha and Utah Beaches stirred by the memories of the young men who came ashore under fire in June of 1944. As we make our way to Patton’s Headquarters in Nehou, we will visit the town squares, woods, and fields significant to the Allied victory.
We will then follow Patton’s Third Army across France, to its relief of Bastogne and invasion of Germany. Along the way, you will learn about Patton, the man and the leader, from Patton expert Kevin Hymel, who has authored three books on the Maverick General. Kevin’s meticulous attention to detail and engaging storytelling will bring Patton to life and provide valuable insights into this pivotal period of history.

80th Anniversary of D-Day Tour: Normandy Campaign: Beaches and Beyond
This tour covers the Normandy breakout, code name Operation Cobra, the Allied plan to take Brittany and trap the remaining German army in Normandy. You will explore the D-Day beaches and the inland campaigns in the heart of Normandy. You will visit the areas where the American, British, and Canadian armies fought for Caen and Cherbourg. You will stand where the GIs of the 30th Infantry Division stopped the last great German offensive in Normandy in its tracks. You will see where Free Polish forces closed the German’s last avenue of escape at Falaise. Finally, you will follow along the path the Allies took as they raced to liberate Paris.
Guests on this tour will be staying apartments that sleep 4 people, so this is a great tour for groups of families and and friends traveling together.
