For 35 years, Stephen Ambrose Historical Tours has been offering private tours for alumni travel associations, educational organizations, high schools, families and other private groups.

Whether visiting Omaha Beach to pay homage to the fallen or following the path of Lewis and Clark down the Missouri River, we offer an expertise that was perfected by Professor Ambrose, and then directly handed down to the next generation of historians.

From selecting destinations and activities to accommodating unique scheduling needs, every aspect of your private group tour can be tailored to create a one-of-a-kind experience. Our team will work closely with you to understand your group’s unique interests and preferences and develop an itinerary that meets your expectations. Fundraising and Donor Tours for Museums and Alumni

We have facilitated donations for museums, affinity groups, and alumni travel associations to meet their financial goals while also providing a rich historical and cultural experience. From identifying potential major donors to retaining existing members, our tours offer a range of benefits for your organization.

Educational Tours for High School and College Students

Our founder, Stephen Ambrose, developed one of the most beloved Study Abroad opportunities at the University of New Orleans. Today, we carry on his legacy, organizing educational tours for high school and college students. In partnership with Nicholls State University, high school juniors and seniors and current college students can earn three Humanities credit hours for an additional cost.

Other Private Tours

Family Legacy Tours: One of our historians will research where your relative fought during WWII, or even the Civil War, and design an itinerary that will take you to those places. As you follow in their footsteps, you will immerse yourself in the larger context of that moment in history. (Family Legacy Tours require a minimum of 12 people.)
Private Luxury Tours: For individuals or groups of families and friends traveling together, we can customize a tour to your historical and cultural interests that will be led by a professional historian.
