Military History Tours

Stephen Ambrose Historical Tours offers two outstanding military history tours: WWI: Western Front Tour and Scotland Jacobite Rising Tour.

On our World War I, you will explore the most significant sites along the old Western Front in Belgium and France–Ypres, Arras, Cambrai, Somme, Verdun. It is an emotionally charged experience, seeing where millions of men fought each other across a brutal 475-mile long “No Man’s Land,” that stretched from the North Sea to the Swiss border, and discussing the Great War’s terrible consequences.

On our Scotland Jacobite Rising Tour you will explore Scotland’s Northern Highlands, a place of mysterious beauty, as you learn about the Jacobite Rebellion of 1745. You will see the battlefields, castles, forts and fields where the Jacobites fought and made their last stand. You will also enjoy some of the cultural highlights of Scotland, attending the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, tasting Scotch at the Dalwhinnie Distillery, and riding on The Jacobite Express, famous as Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Express.
