History Happy Hour: Faces of Margraten Project

History Happy Hour logoOne of the best parts of going on a Stephen Ambrose Historical Tour is crowding into the bar at happy hour to discuss the places you have been and kibbitz about various history topics.

This Sunday at 4pm EDT, co-host historians Christopher Anderson and Rick Beyer will be back with another History Happy Hour, a livestream on the Stephen Ambrose Historical Tours Facebook page. It is our wee bit of cabin-fever relief for you.

This week, Chris and Rick talk to Sebastiaan Vonk one of the founders of the amazing Faces of Margraten project, which is working diligently to provide a face to go with the names of the 8,301 soldiers buried at the USAMBC Netherland American Cemetery in Margraten, as well as the 1,722 names on the walls of the missing. Sebastiaan will talk about this incredibly important project as well as the history of the cemetery and the grave adoption program.

WE NEED YOU TO PARTICIPATE! Email questions or topics you would like to see us discuss to hhh@stephenambrosetours.com. Broad ones, deep dives, fun ones. Who knows? If we think a question is particularly interesting, maybe we will invite you to come on and ask it on the show!

Please join us for Faces of Margraten! #WWII #history #cocktails

Tune into History Happy Hour on our Facebook page this Sunday>>

To get a preview of this entertaining, illuminating and inspiring look at history, check out last week’s History Happy Hour, “Revolution Revelations.” Chris and Rick tackled the American Revolution (mainly to prove they know about more than just WWII!), sharing the inside skinny on recommended books, interesting sites, little known stories, and colonial cocktails! (A flip, anyone?)
