Everything was so great
Honestly – everything was so great. I cannot imagine any improvement on the content of the info. Ron was the best and all his stories and videos served to enhance the experience.
Read reviews and watch videos to find out what our guests say about our WWII and American History tours.

Reconnected with my father
My father was killed in WWII and he is buried in the American military cemetery in Nettuno. This was my first chance ever to reconnect with my father. For the first time in my life I got an appreciation for what those guys really had to do. The boot of Italy is a very tough place to get through even today with a car. We went to some places where most tours would normally not go. It turned out to be a winner. Everybody was very pleased with it. I’d do it again.
If you can only take one trip take the Poland Tour. All of the guides were very knowledgeable about the places and things we saw. The hotels were a mixture of old world and new. The people of Poland are hard working and very friendly. The food was outstanding.
Such an honor
We enjoyed all of the tour, but in particular Iwo Jima, the island itself, and Tinian. It was such an honor to get to see it and especially to visit with the veterans about what it means to them.

Thanks for everything
Dear Mark,
This is to thank you and your team for a great holiday discovering the complexities of the Civil War and of the South. We thoroughly enjoyed our long chats with Marina and on the last night meeting up with Terri, both of whom are delightful ladies.
A great deal of effort must have gone into planning the tour, with splendid hotels and restaurants and, of course, very erudite guides to take us through every interesting step of the battle zones. Your choice of lunch stops like the one with the singing restaurateur provided a fascinating insight of life in the south and of its food.
We also had a most agreeable group of people to spend a holiday with. You spared no effort to give us a memorable holiday. Now I am starting to enjoy Sons of the White Eagle.
Thanks for everything.
Dream trip for any WWII history buff
This D-Day tour is a dream trip for any WWII history buff who wants to stand on the beaches at Normandy, experience the powerful emotions brought forth by the military cemeteries in France and Luxembourg, stand in a foxhole in the Ardennes, and tour General McAuliffe’s office in Bastogne.
It was fantastic!
Where do I begin? I just got back from This Hallowed Ground Civil War Tour. It was not just great, it was fantastic! I learned so much from an expert authority on the Civil War, Jack Mountcastle. His wealth of knowledge and understanding of what happened was far beyond my expectation. I am still thinking of all that we saw and heard as I go about my day. Special moments will live in my memory forever. Thank you for providing this type of experience to me. It was well organized with all of our needs taken care of.
Happy traveling…….
I’ve wanted to take this trip ever since Stephen Ambrose lead it. When Mike and I first started talking about it and researching options he mentioned another company, but to me there was only one choice: Stephen Ambrose wrote the book on the Band of Brothers. I regretted not being able to make the trip with Ambrose but still felt the group he started would provide the best tour. The trip was better than I ever hoped for – the personal stories and insights, and the passion for the men of Easy Company, that George and Chris shared with us could not have been duplicated by any other team. I am very grateful! I still believe taking the trip with Ambrose would have been wonderful, but recognize that Band of Brothers was a book project for him. Chris and George literally grew up with them. No other team can match that! My wife and I are planning to take the tour together in 2019, maybe 2020, provided that Chris and George are still leading it as a team. It has been my stories about the two of them that convinced her to go.
I'll remember this trip for years
I could not let a day go by without following up on our tour.
The planning of the tour was over the top. The battlefields that were chosen and why they were an important part of the war, the places we stayed were wonderful and who could complain about the food! Not only was it good but in several of the establishments, there was more history. It was obvious that a lot of thought and planning went into this adventure.
All of the above though would be a mute point if not for your staff. General Mountcastle was excellent. On our trip it was obvious that many had done their homework as they asked very pointed questions. Jack not only had the answers but could follow up with more information. He was able to put us right there with the feel and thought of the day. Keith Buchanan was right there as well. No one had to worry about wandering off or being left behind. You knew he was there for you and in control of our environment. He made sure everything flowed as expected. Hal was also an integral part of the adventure. The bus was clean, cool and on time. I also thought how appropriate that even though he had been on this trip before, you would see him many times out walking the field, listening to Jack and wandering the museums. It is obvious that more information can be gleaned all the time.
I will be remembering this trip for years to come and sharing my experience about your tour and team. We have several friends on the East Coast and I have made copies of my material and will be sending it as an inspiration to take the trip! Please share with your staff, including Terri and the others that I may have spoken with over the phone how much they are appreciated.
Fantastic, Excellent, Outstanding....
I was on the June 2016 tour…Fantastic, Excellent, Outstanding are just some of the terms that come to mind when I remember this tour.
We stayed in very nice hotels, the bus was first rate (especially our driver Henne…the man could drive a bus anywhere). The historian/guide Chris Anderson was informative, knowledgeable and most importantly cared deeply about the subject (he also had some great back stories to tell). Our logistics Guide Matt Brogge did a fantastic job (he had us running like a well oiled machine).
I’ve read comments from people who have not taken this tour and they seem to believe that this tour is a victory lap for Easy Company, 506th PIR, 101st Airborne. It is not that at all.
While the tour does concentrate on Easy Company it does not skimp or leave out other units who were involved in action in the areas where you will visit. For example, standing on Omaha Beach at the Vierville Draw and looking at the terrain and the defensive positions that had to be taken and overcome, will fill you with awe for the men of the 29th Infantry Division who assaulted the beach.
Following Easy Company will give you a good idea of what the average combat infantry man went through. This tour put into perspective the large scale of the war and also the personal human toll paid for in blood by common everyday Americans. (Not a very easy thing to do, in my opinion)
I would not mess around with any other tour company, if you want a fantastic experience, tour with this group. They hit the ball out of the park!
Thanks again, Chris, Matt and Henne! (I am already looking at my next tour)
A bucket list trip
We took this trip in 2015. It was an awesome trip and we are so thrilled we did it. I highly recommend this particular tour. I’m sure we went places and saw things other tours are not able to do. It was a bucket list trip and totally worthwhile. Loved it! The promotions are not hype. Accommodations, food, transportation all as advertised.
Overall, a very good blend of WWII-related things with some local cultural things.
Good mixture
Good mixture of battlefields and museums. Quirky lunch stops were a fun surprise.
The best trip we have ever taken
We have both traveled a great deal, in this country and abroad, and this (Band of Brothers tour with Stephen Ambrose Historical Tours) was truly the best trip we have ever taken. Our historian was an incredible guide and wealth of information. We feel truly blessed that we had such a wonderful team and such a memorable experience.
Moving experience
The tour was more than I had expected. It was a moving experience to actually walk the ground and have the battles, events and sites explained in a clear and understandable manner. I would highly recommend that any of my Civil War buff friends take advantage of your company.
Very pleased
I thought the level of military and general information was exactly what I was looking for. I was very pleased with the content of the tour.
Behind the scenes of the war
We wanted to see behind the scenes of the war, and had no idea about the Ghost Army. But any day one sees something new, that’s a good day.
Hard to improve this tour
We were rock stars wherever we went. This tour will be hard to improve on.
Best experience!
Overall, the tour was the best experience Ive had. I will remember it for the rest of my life. I took over 600 photos. I got to see where my dad was at and wondered what made him what he was.
We saw so much
We saw so much – places I’ve read about but never thought I’d see.
Outstanding Trip!
I am a history and WWII buff and I felt this was an outstanding trip. My wife, who does not have a great interest in military matters, also feels this was one of her best trips.
Excellent tour
Excellent tour. I would highly recommend it to anyone with WWII interest. Best company and historians.
Unforgettable experiences
Each day was filled with unforgettable experiences. The details about the places and events made the tour so memorable and I learned so much.
My son and I took this tour some years ago and are still talking about it. The tour and it’s guide were fist class. I have been to Normandy since and it was more impressive having been with Ambrose before.
